Lessons in this course (9)
7. Azure Database for PostgreSQL/MySQL, Azure Cache for Redis and choosing storage
IntermediateMediumLesson 7 of 9
- Azure Database for PostgreSQL – Flexible Server / MySQL – Flexible Server: managed open-source engines with zone-redundant HA, automated backups/PITR, read replicas, stop/start to save cost, extensions (PostGIS, pgvector).
- Azure Cache for Redis / Azure Managed Redis: in-memory key-value store — cache-aside for DB queries, session state, distributed locks, rate limiting, pub/sub. Use with
IDistributedCache/HybridCachein ASP.NET Core. - Azure Storage: Blob (files, images, backups), Table (simple key-value), Queue; Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 for analytics.
- Azure Data Explorer / Fabric Real-Time Intelligence: time-series and log analytics with KQL (IoT, telemetry).
| Data | Store |
|---|---|
| Orders, invoices, inventory (relational, transactions) | Azure SQL |
| Product catalog, user profiles at global scale | Cosmos DB |
