9. Interviewing with Taiwan employers
IntermediateMediumLesson 9 of 9
- Major employers include semiconductor and electronics companies (TSMC, MediaTek, Foxconn/Hon Hai, ASUS, Acer, Quanta, Delta Electronics), software and internet companies (Trend Micro, Appier, Gogoro, LINE Taiwan/LY Corporation, Shopee Taiwan, KKCompany), and foreign multinationals' Taipei offices (Microsoft, Google Taiwan hardware teams, Amazon Web Services, NVIDIA and others).
- Language: many local companies interview and work in Mandarin; English-only roles exist mainly in multinationals, startups with international teams and some R&D centres — filter job posts (e.g. "English" on 104/Yourator/CakeResume/LinkedIn).
- Process: online application → HR phone screen → technical test or take-home → 1–3 interviews (team lead, manager, sometimes department head) → offer with monthly salary + bonus discussion.
- Work authorisation: foreign professionals need an employer-sponsored work permit or a Taiwan Employment Gold Card; be ready to state your status clearly.
- Culture tips: punctuality, politeness and humility; prepare a short self-introduction; bring/attach transcripts or certificates if asked; follow up through the recruiter.
