5. Why are you leaving your current job?

Basic★ Must knowLesson 5 of 9

Be honest but positive and forward-looking; never criticise your current employer or manager.

Good reasons: growth/learning, bigger scope or responsibility, new technology/domain, relocation, project ended, company restructuring, stability after a contract role.

"I've learned a lot at my current company and delivered two major releases. The product is now in maintenance mode, and I want to work on building new cloud-native systems at a larger scale — which this role offers."

If you were laid off: "My role was part of a company-wide restructuring affecting 15% of staff. It wasn't performance-related — I have a reference from my manager. I used the time to complete AZ-204 and build a project with .NET 10 and Azure Container Apps."
