10. Comparing offers and counter-offers

IntermediateMediumLesson 10 of 11

Offer comparison factors: fixed pay, variable (and its realistic payout), equity, benefits, role/level, tech stack and learning, team and manager, company stability/funding, work-life balance, commute/remote, location and cost of living, visa/relocation support, notice and bond terms.

Counter-offers from your current employer: consider why you wanted to leave — money rarely fixes growth, culture or manager issues. Common risks: being seen as a flight risk, the raise coming from future increments, reasons for leaving remaining. If you accept a counter-offer, inform the new company promptly and politely. If you decline, thank your employer.
