4. Resume and background verification honesty

- Keep dates, titles and companies consistent across resume, LinkedIn and application forms.
- In India, background verification commonly checks previous employment (HR confirmation, relieving letters), education, address, criminal records and sometimes the UAN/EPFO service history, which shows actual employment periods. Overlapping employment (moonlighting) becomes visible.
- Don't inflate CTC: some companies ask for payslips or Form 16 / bank statements; a mismatch can cancel the offer.
- If something is complicated (company closed, no relieving letter), tell HR upfront and offer alternatives (offer letter + payslips + bank statements + manager reference).
