- Tech switch (e.g. .NET → React, support → development, manual testing → automation, data → cloud): show evidence of the new skill — projects, certifications, internal contributions — and connect transferable skills.
- Domain switch (banking → healthcare): highlight domain-agnostic strengths (data handling, compliance awareness, client communication) and a learning plan.
- Service company → product company: product companies focus more on DSA/coding rounds and system design; prepare those explicitly (see Coding Practice).
- Developer → lead/manager: show examples of informal leadership (mentoring, reviews, running stand-ups).
- Freelancing → full-time: present freelancing as professional work (clients, deliverables, outcomes); explain why you want a team environment now; confirm no conflict of interest going forward.
